Kuala Lumpur, May 11, 2013: A coalition of religion-based non-governmental organisations has sent out a plea to all quarters to stop stoking racial sentiments in the aftermath of the 13th general election that was concluded on May 5th.

The coalition calling themselves the Friendship Group For Inter-religious Service (FGIS)
comprise of the following NGOs:

Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (ABIM)
Buddhist Maha Vihara
Council of Churches of Malaysia (Wilayah)
Malaysia Hindu Sangam
Malaysian Gurdwaras Council

At today's joint-press conference the group expressed its concern that racially charged statements by several quarters pose a threat to the peace and harmony of the country.

The group is an informal gathering of the major religious groups in the country who are dedicated to foster inter faith unity with all the ethnic and religious groups for national unity, harmony and understanding.

They have been working together for 11 years, conducting events primarily focusing on youths, geared towards encouraging interfaith understanding and unity.

FGIS also conduct charity drives for the needy around the country.
