Severe flooding and landslides in Japan’s Hiroshima prefecture in early July left 126 people dead and 80 missing according to Kyodo news.

Japan’s Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, described “enormous damage" caused by “overflowing rivers, landslides.” He said: "Some 54,000 members of the Self-Defense Forces, police, firefighters, and the Japan Coast Guard have been working around the clock to conduct urgent rescue operations.”
