A firefighter from the Mesa Fire Department rescued a woman from a car sunken in a canal on July 9.
The Mesa Fire Department said that the woman, aged in her fifties, was able to survive in an air pocket inside the car until her rescue, and sustained minor injuries in the incident.
It was not immediately clear how the car came to be in the canal off Alma School Road in northwest Mesa.
