The Australian Federal Police (AFP) said it deployed six expert divers on Saturday, June 30, to assist Thai authorities to rescue 12 boys and their soccer coach who were trapped in a cave in Thailand.

On Tuesday, AFP Specialist Response Group superintendent Tom Hester spoke with media after the boys were found alive. He reported there were six highly trained search and rescue divers from the AFP at the scene.

Hester said they were trained in zero-visibility diving, in addition to recovery and support abilities, and were facing the dangerous challenge of navigating murky flood water, tight passages and a complex cave network. Hester said Thai authorities had welcomed their efforts. Credit: Australian Federal Police via Storyful
