A pro-democracy march took place in Hong Kong on July 1, the 21st anniversary of the handover of control to China from the UK.
The South China Morning Post reported some 60,000 people were expected by organizers to attend.
The rally’s organizers, Civil Human Rights Front, had opposed a government mandated starting point for the march, the paper reported, saying the location would put them in close proximity to a pro-China event also marking the anniversary.
