Five people were rescued after their boat capsized 22 miles west of the Anclote Key off Florida’s west coast, on June 29. A passenger on a charter fishing boat heard an urgent request for help over the radio and responded to the call.
A Coast Guard plane on a training flight spotted the boaters clinging to debris, prompting them to send out the Urgent Marine Information Broadcast that was picked up by the Tarpon Springs boat that responded.
