Trump’s Travel Ban Upheld by Supreme Court In a 5-4 ruling, the court upheld President Trump’s restriction on travel to the United States from several mostly Muslim countries, rejecting a challenge that it’s and overreach of presidential powers and discriminates against Muslims. Chief Justice Roberts wrote the majority opinion. "The Proclamation is squarely within the scope of Presidential authority," President Trump wasted no time weighing in on Twitter. Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote in dissent to the decision. "a reasonable observer would conclude that the Proclamation was motivated by anti-Muslim animus." The travel ban has been in place since December.
