AT&T Wins Approval To Buy Time Warner

On Tuesday, AT&T won approval from a U.S. court to buy Time Warner for $85 billion. The deal will allow AT&T to compete with internet companies and provide them with new sources of revenue. Back in November, the Justice Department filed a lawsuit to stop the deal, saying AT&T’s ownership of Time Warner and also DirecTV and would give it unfair leverage against rival cable providers that rely on Time Warner’s content, such as CNN and HBO.
