The streets of Mogadishu, Somalia, were under water on Sunday, May 20, after days of rainfall triggered severe flooding. The storm, a tropical cyclone, was forecasted to strike the arid region on May 16.

“Severe flash flooding and river flooding across the region will lead to a loss of human life, livestock, and the destruction of crops, property and infrastructure,” the forecast said. Somalian media reported six people had been confirmed dead and hundreds were displaced after homes and property were damaged or destroyed.
