Cyclone Gita wreaked destruction in Samoa on February 11, bringing devastating floods and intense winds.

Residents living in the island’s worst affected towns have been evacuated to emergency shelters, according to the Samoa News.

These videos were captured by New Zealander Gabby Bush, who has been staying in Lelata village for an internship. The first clip shows motorists driving through flooded streets and homes in Lelata after water overflowed from the Vaisigano river in Apia. The second clip, filmed on February 10, shows the flooding near her home in Lelata.

Cyclone Gita is now forecast to hit Tonga, where it is predicted it will reach the strength of a Category 3 hurricane. The country has subsequently declared a state of emergency. Credit: Gabby Bush via Storyful
