15 people have died in West Bengal during the Panchayat Polls
which Opposition has blamed on the Prime Ministerial aspirations of Mamata Banerjee. The Union home ministry sought a report from the state government on the violence. TMC was accused of perpetrating violence in all districts of West Bengal. Last week, the state election commission was ordered by Calcutta High Court
and Supreme Court to conduct free and fair polling. Monday’s polling saw unprecedented rigging, booth capturing, ballot paper burning in front of the media and even the police in some places.
