After battle in court, violence on ground the highly anticipated Panchayat polls will be held in West Bengal. The state saw many instances of pre poll violence with the case being dragged to the courts as well. The Supreme Court had recently stayed a Calcutta High Court order and asked the state election body not to accept any electronic nominations. The SC had also expressed disappointment on 34% candidates of the ruling party winning with many seats going uncontested and refrained the state election commission from declaring results of those constituencies.
