In what can be seen as a major setback to Mamata Banerjee led TMC government in West Bengal, the Calcutta High Court has ordered the West Bengal State Election Commission to announce fresh dates for filing of nominations for Panchayat polls. Last week, the court has stayed the filing of nominations following the allegations of large scale violence by the opposition parties. The Panchayat elections were to be held in three phases from May 1 to May 5 and the counting of votes was scheduled on May 8. Meanwhile, State Election Commission has called for an all party meeting over the issue today at 1 pm.
