Labor Day protesters filled the streets of the Metro Manila area on May 1, waving banners, chanting and expressing their grievances against a recent executive order by President Rodrigo Duterte on labor contracts.

In Manila, police estimated that at least 2,000 demonstrators had taken to the streets as of 8:00 am, according to CNN Philippines. Some 10,000 police officers were on standby during the demonstrations, Rappler reported.
