After Gautam Gambhir stepped down as the captain of IPL franchise Delhi Daredevils, Shreyas Iyer has replaced him with immediate effect. He thanked management and coaches of the franchise and said that he is honored with the appointment. Gautam Gambir said, “It was my decision. I haven't contributed enough to the team. I had to take the responsibility being the leader of the ship. I feel it was the right time”.
