Former MLA Veeranna Charanthimatha filed a nomination with a number of supporters from the BJP & H Y Meti filed the nomination papers from the Congress party from Bagalkot Assembly constituency. ಬಾಗಲಕೋಟೆ ವಿಧಾನಸಭೆ ಮತಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಿಂದ ಹಾಲಿ ಶಾಸಕ ಎಚ್.ವೈ.ಮೇಟಿ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಪಕ್ಷದಿಂದ ತಮ್ಮ ಅಪಾರ ಬೆಂಬಲಿಗರೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಾಮಪತ್ರ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರೆ ಮಾಜಿ ಶಾಸಕ ವೀರಣ್ಣ ಚರಂತಿಮಠ ಬಿಜೆಪಿಯಿಂದ ಸಹಸ್ರಾರು ಬೆಂಬಲಿಗರೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಾಮಪತ್ರ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು. ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆ ಬರುವುದು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ತಡವಾದಾಗ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಮತ್ತು ಬಿಜೆಪಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರು ಸಹಸ್ರಾರು ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರಿದ್ದರಿಂದು ಇವರನ್ನು ಚದುರಿಸಲು ಲಘು ಲಾಠಿ ಪ್ರಹಾರ ವನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಿದರು. ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ನೂಕುನುಗ್ಗಲು ಉಂಟಾಯಿತು.
