Puerto Rico was plunged into an island-wide blackout on April 18 after a power failure occurred in the island’s south.

It was the second such outage within two weeks, after a tree fell onto a power line on April 12, crippling electrical services for an estimated 870,000 customers of the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority. The outages occurred as Puerto Rico was recovering from infrastructure damage caused by Hurricane Maria.

Due to the outage, a train in San Juan came to a stop between stations and passengers were forced to exit and walk to safety. This footage shows passengers leaving the train, aided by staff. Credit: yosoyevra via Storyful
