French train services have been severely disrupted as rail workers went on strike Tuesday - the first day of a three-month rolling walkout that will affect two days in every five.
It could potentially be the biggest strike against President Emmanuel Macron's labor reforms since he took office last May.
France's state-owned rail company, SNCF, said 87 percent of high-speed trains and 80 percent of regional services were canceled on what local media are calling "Black Tuesday."
It also warned that major disruptions were expected on Wednesday.
Workers fear the proposed reforms could lead to the SNCF's privatization, which could in turn take away their job-for-life guarantees, annual pay rises and the right to early retirement.
