The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions will stage a general strike starting today,... to protest planned labor reforms in the nation.
Labor union members say as many as 160-thousand workers will take part nationwide.
The strike comes as the government limited the maximum weekly working hours to 52,... in order to prevent people overworking and stimulate the domestic economy in the form of increased leisure spending.
The government later allowed for certain businesses to exceed the 52-hour work week for a maximum of three months,... as long as the total average hours for the year were within the set limit.
It is now considering expanding that period to six months.
