A video of a nursing home’s send-off to a US Air Force veteran who died after a struggle with Alzheimer’s disease has gone viral after it was shared to Facebook on February 8.
In the clip, a US flag is shown draped over the body of Douglas Timmons as it’s led down the hallway of the Richard M Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson, South Carolina.
Timmons’ daughter, Laura Dorn, shared the clip to Facebook and wrote how even at 5am, “with the few people that were available….they still honored him on his way out.”
Speaking to local media, Russel Evatt, the nursing home director, said they perform what the nursing home staff call the farewell ceremony, for every veteran who dies there.
