James Comey tweeted a timely quote from Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday night. "Good to read reports of people standing up for what they believe in. 'The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy' — MLK," Comey wrote. He has often posted historical and literary passages relevant to the day's news. Not long before he shared this one, Axios reported, based on insider sources, that FBI Director Christopher Wray threatened to resign because he was under pressure to fire the bureau's Deputy Director Andrew McCabe. According to the media outlet, the strong urgings came from Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Axios also states that President Trump was the one who launched the effort to oust McCabe. Comey, who was the director of the FBI before Trump fired him, has taken a number of lightly veiled jabs at the leader. His recent tweets include, "'Our liberty depends on the freedom of the press, and that cannot be limited without being lost.' - Thomas Jefferson, Jan. 28, 1786," and, "'The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.' - Winston Churchill."
