A teacher at Seneca Valley High School in Germantown, Maryland, had a lot to say in a meeting with the Montgomery County Public Schools Board of Education about proposed budget cuts to arts programs, and she used the musical Hamilton to help her.
Joanna Chilcoat was recorded by fellow teacher Kimberly Sterin breaking down into a Hamilton-inspired sing-song monologue as she was “overcome with emotion” regarding the proposed budget cuts. In the video shared on Janaury 16, Chilcoat used the music and beat of Alexander Hamilton to deliver her speech about the importance of funding for the arts.
Sterin tweeted out the video, writing that Chilcoat “advocated tonight in a way no one will forget!” The video had 195 views at time of writing. Credit: Kimberly Sterin via Storyful
