One person died and more than a dozen others were injured after a fire engulfed a casino shuttle boat off the coast of New Port Richey, Florida, on Sunday, January 14.
The 42-year-old woman died from her injuries after being taken to the hospital on Sunday, a news report said. The woman had gone home after the fire, which forced people to jump into the water and swim to safety, before falling ill and going to the hospital, the report said.
Another 14 people were reportedly injured, with eight of them taken to the hospital where they were treated and released. Fifty people, including the boat’s crew, had jumped overboard after the fire. Everyone had made it to shore.
The shuttle had been transporting people between to the Tropical Breeze Casino boat when it had engine problems.
