Police used tear gas to disperse an opposition rally in Nairobi on November 28 as Uhuru Kenyatta was sworn in for a second term as president of Kenya, local media reported.
Kenyatta’s inauguration ceremony was boycotted by the opposition, with former NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga calling it a coronation.
Addressing supporters in Nairobi’s Eastlands area on Tuesday, Odinga said he would be sworn in as president of Kenya on Jamhuri Day, December 12, local media reported. He claimed the re-run of the presidential election on October 28 was a “fake election” that was boycotted by 83 percent of the population, Kenya Citizen TV said.
