Protests continued in Nairobi late on October 30 after the country’s electoral commission announced that Uhuru Kenyatta had won the controversial rerun of the country’s presidential election.
Kenyatta swept the election, which was marred by violence, with 98 percent of the vote, according to the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The commission also reported that there had been a 38 percent voter turnout, which the opposition NASA disputed. The NASA also claimed the IEBC “conducted the repeat poll in a more fraudulent manner than the August 8 elections”, according to local reports.
