Ingredients:-
For the filling:-
200 gms. Potatoes, boiled and mashed
2 tbsp. Vegetable oil
½ tsp. Cumin seeds
1 pinch asafoetida
1 tbsp. Ginger-garlic-green chilli crush
3 tbsp. Coriander leaves, chopped
¼ tsp. Turmeric powder
Salt as required
For the batter:-
1 cup Gram flour
¼ tsp. Red chilli powder
½ tsp. Turmeric powder
½ to ⅔ cup Water
Salt as required
10 slices of bread
Oil for deep frying
Tomato ketchup for serving
Method:-
The Filling:-
- In a pan heat oil and add asafoetida, cumin seeds, ginger-garlic-green chilli crush and saute for 30-40 seconds.
- Add turmeric powder, boiled potatoes and mash them using a masher.
- Now add salt, coriander leaves and mix well after which turn the flame off and let it cool down to room temperature.
- Once cooled, apply the filling to the bread slice generously and make a sandwich of it.
- Cut these sandwiches into triangular shapes.
The Batter:-
- In a bowl, add gram flour, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt, water and mix well to form a batter thick enough to coat the sandwich.
The Frying:-
- Dip the sandwiches in the batter and fry them in hot oil for a minute on both sides.
- Once fried, drain the oil and transfer on absorbent kitchen paper.
