COLERAIN, OHIO — A horrific shooting took place at a home near Cincinnati over the weekend, resulting in the death of one woman, injuries to eight others, and the loss of an unborn baby, whose mother was shot in the leg.
The night of July 8, a young woman expecting to give birth in the coming months gathered her friends and family for her baby’s gender reveal party. Just after 11 p.m., two gunmen entered the Colerain home, armed with handguns. Police say they do not yet know whether this was a case of forced entry. Once inside, the gunmen began firing their weapons at the guests, which included at least three small children ages 8, 6, and 2.
The suspects took off on foot and have yet to be found. A 22-year-old woman was killed and eight others were wounded, including the pregnant mother. She lost the baby.
The Washington Post reports the woman who died has been identified as Autum Garrett, a mother of two from Indiana. The pregnant woman, Cheyenne, has since been discharged from the hospital. Shortly before being shot in the leg, she found out she was preparing to give birth to a baby boy.
