The Sutherland County Fire near Quincy, Washington, grew to 47,500 acres on Friday, June 30, with 20 percent containment. Dry and gusty conditions resulted in extreme growth during the day on June 29, according to an incident report.
Despite the growth, level two evacuations in Grant County and Douglas County were downgraded to level one evacuations on June 29. Firefighters dropped water and fire retardant on the flames, as this video shows.
