MPs and supporters from Turkey’s main opposition party, the Republican People’s Party (CHP), began a “justice” march from Ankara to Istanbul on June 15, reportedly in protest at the detention of one the party deputies, Enis Berberoglu.
Berberoğlu was sentenced to 25 years’ imprisonment over spying charges on June 14.
CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu reportedly broadened the aim of the march, saying he did not want journalists or deputies in front of the courts.
