AMERICAN FORK, UTAH — A mom from Utah who pulled her son’s teeth out with pliers in a supermarket bathroom has been charged with second-degree child abuse.
Believing one of her boy’s teeth were infected, 47-year-old American Fork resident Jeannine Cherilynn Isom and her two sons went to a local Walmart on April 2, People reported.
Isom bought hand sanitizer and needle nose pliers, then took her 7-year-old son into the restroom. Inside the restroom, Isom tried using the pliers to pull her son’s two upper front teeth out — without anesthesia.
The 7-year-old’s older brother and a store manager reportedly heard the kid screaming.
The extraction did not go well, and the 7-year-old’s teeth came off in multiple broken pieces.
The boy said that actually only one of his teeth was just a tiny bit loose and the other one was not, according to the Associated Press. Moreover, he was only at the dentist a few days earlier and there were no signs of infection.
Isom was charged with a second degree felony for “intentionally or knowingly inflicting serious physical injury upon a child.” Her court date is scheduled for July 11.
