Severe fighting was reported between Iraqi forces and Islamic State militias on May 28 as operations resumed near the old city, according to Iraqi News.

IS reportedly controlled only 5 percent of territories in west Mosul since the major offensive started, Iraqi media reported, citing a military source.

The last remaining IS enclave includes the Old City center and three adjacent districts along the western bank of the Tigris river, Reuters reported.

Local activists reported that 15 civilians were killed including children and women in strikes in old Mosul.

This video was shared by the Iraqi Federal Police and is described as showing artillery bombardment targeting IS locations while storming old Mosul.
