Video from Plymouth resident Peter Moyse showed the moment a bolt of lightning struck the chimney of a house in Motley, England, on May 27.

“It struck the house across the way from me and I felt it go through my body,” Moyse told Storyful. “I was in shock at what had just happened.”

Lightning storms raged over southwest England early on May 27, affecting Cornwall, Plymouth, Devon and surrounding areas. The Met Office said that there was a notable amount of lightning over four hours, between midnight and 4 am.
