Thousands of people marched in Los Angeles on Monday, April 14, to commemorate the 102nd anniversary of the Armenian genocide.

Two marches were planned and drew tens of thousands, according to a report. One of the marches ended at the Turkish consulate.

More than 1 million Armenians died at the hands of the Ottoman Empire in Turkey in 1915. The Turkish government denies a genocide took place, and the United States does not recognize the event as a genocide. The state of California, however, does.
