JAKARTA, INDONESIA — Muhammad Rizieq Shihab, the leader and head carnival barker of Indonesia’s ultra-hardline Islamic Defender’s Front is in trouble again.

He’s the face of aggressive Muslim opposition to the embattled Jakarta governor, who is currently fighting blasphemy charges.

But it’s Rizieq latest nutty outburst that police questioned him about on March 6. Rizieq falsely claimed the national currency contains hidden communist symbolism.

In a widely shared video sermon, he says new banknotes feature a hammer and sickle. They don’t, and defaming the national currency is a crime in Indonesia.

But when questioned, Rizieq said it was all the work of an impersonator.

The sermon in question is a hurricane of hate and provocative language that comes at a time of high political and religious tension in the country.

Rizieq is also battling allegations that he slandered Indonesia’s state ideology which is the foundation of the country’s religious pluralism. Doing that is also a crime … Indonesia's sensitive about this stuff, if you hadn’t noticed.

Rizieq the Islamist compared the symbol of religious diversity on the nation’s official seal ... to an anus.

Enraged, the daughter of Indonesia's independence leader and first president, reported Rizieq to authorities.

He now faces nine separate criminal allegations and media reports say he often calls in sick to avoid scheduled police interviews.

Of all of these, the one that may cause him the most grief is a sexting scandal with a young widow, complete with pics. Rizieq’s a married man. Let’s see what desperate denial he uses to try worm his way out of this one.
