Republicans announce Obamacare alternative

Views 10

House Republicans have debuted their alternative plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. According to the bills, which were drafted by two house committees, American would no longer be penalized for not having health insurance. Two of the most popular provisions of the ACA will stay. They include the young adults being able to stay on their parents' health plans until the age of 26 and forbidding insurers to deny coverage or charge more to people with pre-existing medical problems. The new plan will offer individuals refundable tax credits which will allow them to purchase health insurance and in turn help states shape their own policies through federal funding. It would also allow insurers to impose a surcharge on such people if they have had a gap in coverage.
