MACON, GEORGIA — A woman is facing charges after a firing multiple gunshots at a group of black teens walking by her front yard, and striking one in the head.
Earlier in the week, Elisabeth Cannon claims the boys had been throwing rocks at her house for months. According to one of the teenagers though, Cannon had been yelling racial slurs at them all week, and accusing them of breaking into her house.
On January 16, police say Cannon called to notify authorities of the rock-throwing harassment she was being subjected to by the teens, and warned that if they continued, she was going shoot them. Roughly three hours after that call, police report a call came in about a 15-year-old black teenager shot outside Cannon’s home. When officers arrived on scene, Elisabeth Cannon admitted to shooting young Vernon Marcus Jr. in the head, and told the cops she didn’t mean to actually hit one of them, just scare them.
Cannon, 47, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, but is currently out on bond. Meanwhile, the boy she accidentally shot in the head remains in critical yet stable condition at a nearby hospital.
