Let’s begin the countdown to Christmas with some clips from December 1st, 2016. It’s sort of like an advent calendar, only you get a video every day instead of chocolate. Nutrition for your brain, not your body.

Anyway, we start off in the middle of an ad break with a Barbie advert, where she faffs about with one of her many horses. “You can be anything,” she says, which is pretty rich, seeing as all she does is sit by the pool sipping away at a drink, when she could be doing something exciting for once.

A new Lego Star Wars set is out – probably the nine billionth one – so if you just can’t get enough of spending hours building something that your little brother will probably step on a day later, then go buy it.

BrainBox cards involves all your favourite classic characters, including Mr. Men and what looks like a copyright-free edition of The Land Before Time. Is it cheap? Yup, yup, yup.

After another ad for Alien Mission Evolution, we learn that Super Mario Maker is coming to the Nintendo 3DS for the first time ever. (When is there ever a second time?) It looks pretty fun, though, so go nuts. Another ad for Lego City follows, plus a promo for Justice League Action.

And what lovely ident package has Cartoon Network decided to create for us this Christmas? Something colourfully creative, festive and original? No, of course not. They’re using the same bloody idents they used last Christmas. That is nothing more than an absolute display of total laziness. Bah, humbug!
