Caesarea Philippi (Banias) was an ancient Roman city at the southwestern base of Mount Hermon. It has one of the largest springs feeding the Jordan River. The site was named Panias after the Greek god Pan who was worshiped there. In this same area, Peter answered Jesus saying "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Amazing history and recommended to visit. There is also a repeated recorded broadcast at this place that explains the history.
