Amazing ancient city. Caesarea Maritima was the home of Cornelius, the first Gentile convert and of Philip the evangelist. The evangelist Paul visited the city on many occasions and was imprisoned for two years. This was also Paul's port of landing on his return from some of his journeys. Built by King Herod, Caesarea Maritima was one of the places where he built his palaces.
