A diver in the Barents Sea had a close call when a humpback whale rammed into a bait ball of fish just feet away on November 13.

Despite the shock of the coming within touching distance of the whale’s jaws, the videographer, Patrick Dykstra, told Storyful that “there was not as much danger as it would appear.”

“I was swimming with killer whales when this humpback whale suddenly came charging up and landed on me,” Dykstra told Storyful. “The whale knew exactly what he was doing and moved to avoid me… These creatures are so smart.” Credit: Patrick Dykstra via Storyful
