Welcome to our series of FUN FACTS ABOUT DOLPHINS, presented by Hubbard's Marina at John's Pass in Madeira Beach Florida.

Dolphins are well known for their agility and playful behavior, making them a beloved and favorite character for visitors and wildlife watchers worldwide.

Dolphins are highly intelligent marine mammals and are part of the toothed whales family that includes orcas and pilot whales.

Dolphins are found worldwide and are generally gray in color with darker backs than the rest of their bodies.

Dolphins are carnivores, and consume a variety of prey including fish, squid and crustaceans.

Dolphins live in social groups of five to several hundred. They synchronize their movements with one another when hunting or migrating.

Some species of dolphins will leap out of the water periodically to survey their surroundings. This is known as "spy hopping".
