DETROIT — In the wake of a family tragedy, one man found help in the most unlikely place.

WDIV reports that around 3 a.m. on September 25, Mark Ross received a phone call telling him his 15-year-old sister had been killed in a car accident.

Ross had no vehicle of his own, and begged a friend to drive him from Indiana all the way to Detroit. But while passing through Ohio, the pair got pulled over by highway patrol for overspeeding. Not only was Ross’ friend was taken into custody for driving with a suspended license, his car was also impounded.

Ross himself had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant, and figured he’d go to jail too, according to a Facebook page he posted about the incident. Desperate, he broke down and explained to a trooper that his sister just died, and he needed to be with his mother in Michigan.

Seeing Ross cry, the trooper, Sergeant David Robison, reached over and prayed over him and his family.

He then led the grieving man into the car, and drove him more than 100 miles to his destination. Ross says he and his family are thankful for Robison’s generosity, and have invited him to attend the service for his sister.
