Cauvery Water Dispute: Violence erupts in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu

As the Cauvery water dispute heats up, acts of violence are being reported in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Naam Tamilar Katchi party workers in Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu vandalised a bus from Karnataka and threatened its driver. A Kannadiga eatery was attacked with petrol bombs in Chennai’s Royapettah on Monday. Miscreants hurled crude petrol bombs damaging the glass doors of New Woodlands Hotel.

The attack comes day after a video showing a Tamil Nadu youth being assaulted by a group in Karnataka went viral on social media.

Incidents of violence have been reported in Karnataka as well.
Protests over Supreme Court’s order to release 12,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu were witnessed in Karnataka.

Supreme Court, in its new judgement, has asked people not to take law into their hands.

According to reports, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah will write to Jayalalithaa after attacks on hotel and buses linked to Cauvery row.
