As the Cauvery water dispute heats up, several protestors set over 56 buses ablaze at KPN bus depot on Monday evening near Bengaluru.

A large number of people, including pro-Kannada activists, have been protesting against Supreme Court’s order to release 12,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu.

One person died in police firing while one got seriously injured after violence broke out in Bengaluru and other parts of Karnataka.

Curfews have been imposed in several areas and bus services to Tamil Nadu have been suspended.

State government has imposed section 144 and has also assured the Tamil Nadu government that it will safeguard Tamils in the state.
