BARROW COUNTY, GEORGIA — Authorities have arrested a woman accused of running over a police officer.
Jessica Fox, 28, was pulled over by Statham police Officer Marc Lofton for speeding during a routine traffic stop on Saturday afternoon, according to WSB-TV.
After pulling Fox over, Lofton discovered she was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant.
When Lofton attempted to arrest Fox, she pulled away from Lofton and got back into her car.
Lofton then struggled to try and pull Fox out of the vehicle, but she still refused to cooperate.
At one point, Lofton even tased Fox, which also didn’t work.
Fox then put the car in gear and drove off, dragging Lofton for several yards before the vehicle ran over both the officer’s legs as Fox drove off without him.
Lofton was able to get up and call for backup. He was transported to the hospital and treated for a torn Achilles tendon and a concussion.
Fox is now in jail and has been charged with assaulting an officer, among other charges.
