The Italian hilltop hamlet of Pescara del Tronto lays in rubble after Wednesday’s devastating earthquake destroyed virtually every building.
Huge mounds of rubble lay down the hillside of the small community, usually home to 135 people.
Most of the digging out of survivors has been carried out by residents, with the secluded location making it difficult for rescue services to reach the area.
