After more than a decade of the state’s strict control of the telecommunication sector, two foreign mobile operators, Telenor and Ooredoo have now launched services in Burma. Putting an end to the monopoly of state run Myanmar Posts and Telecomunications or MPT, SIM card costs have plummeted to affordable prices for the first time in Burma’s history.
