MANOSQUE, FRANCE — A heroic dog in France successfully defending his owner and scaring off an armed robber was caught on a security camera, and the footage has gone viral.

The incident reportedly took place at a store owned by David Bremond, in Manosque in southeastern France. Bremond was closing up his store for the day when an armed robber paid him a visit.

In the video posted on Viral Hog, the robber is seen holding a gun while Bremond was running toward the counter. Bremond’s dog, a 4-year-old Belgian Malinois named Hobby, suddenly emerged and attacked the robber.

Bremond and Hobby then chased the robber out of the store. Hobby is seen biting robber on the street in the video. According to InsideEdition.com, the robber then fled in a car, and Hobby stopped his pursuit under the command of Bremond.

“We underwent a year-long training program at the kennel club in my town,” Bremond told InsideEdition.com. “I am licensed to command him to bite. However, this is the first time that we were in a real situation.”
Bremond’s store has been robbed four times in the last ten years. He decided to get a dog to protect himself after the third robbery.
