FREDERICK, MARYLAND — An attempted robbery at a 7-Eleven early July 12 ended with the clerk holding the robber’s weapon as the assailant fled the scene, according to the Frederick News-Post.
The attempted robbery reportedly began around 4 a.m. Store surveillance footage shows the clerk was behind the register helping out two customers when the robber burst into the shop at 7729 Sundays Lane.
The robber is seen pointing a shotgun at the clerk’s face and gesturing aggressively before the employee fearlessly grabs the barrel of the gun and wrestles the weapon away. The robber then turns and flees the scene empty handed.
The robber, whom the Frederick County Sheriff’s office has identified as Ryan Jordan Wages, 18, was arrested the next day and charged with attempted armed robbery. Authorities say the weapon was not even loaded.
According to the sheriff’s office press release, Wages also had an active arrest warrant through Frederick City Police.
