MotoGP 13 Career race at Assen - on board/helmet cam/first person racing.

It all goes wrong at Assen in the 7th race of my rookie season in Moto3. I have never performed particularly well at Assen for some reason and this race weekend proved to be no exception. I qualified reasonably well and all practice and qualifying sessions were in the wet.

On race day, the skies had cleared but the track was still wet and in these situations the game forces you to start on wet tyres despite the fact that judging by the sunny blue skies the track was going to dry out quite quickly. At least everyone on the grid is in the same boat I suppose but it would be nice if tyre choice played a little more of a part in the setup process.

I really enjoyed the race despite my disappointing performance and hopefully it us fun to watch too. A combination of inconsistent riding, technical problems, crashes and penalties left me claiming only handful of points and I slipped from 2nd to 3rd in the overall standings.

On lap 14 a coming together on the slowest corner of the track saw me drop to 11th. A lap later and the liberties I had been taking with the kerbs came back to bite me and I was given a ride through penalty for corner cutting - I didn't notice this until a lap or two later and decided to ignore it and see how much time I could make up on the riders ahead of me first. By this stage we were racing on a dry track for the most part. By lap 20 I was in a comfortable 7th and getting in amongst the back markers and although the rider ahead of me had a 10 second gap I had been steadily reeling him in. I was hoping for enough of a cushion from Vasquez behind me to be able to take the ride through penalty without losing too many places and then came the second crash of the day..a low side heading into the start/finish straight...
